Giving for Good Deeds, www.kohlskids.com. Do you know a youngster who volunteers in his community to make a difference? Nominate him for the Kohl’s Kids Who Care® Scholarship Program, now in its tenth year, which awards scholarships and prizes to volunteers ages 6-18. Log online to cast your vote and find full rules and regs for the program, running through 3/15.

Explore the Grounds, North Shore Day School, 85 Crescent Beach Road, Glen Cove, www.northshoredaycamp.com. Attend an Open House for the school and camp this month. The camp, for children ages 2˝-15, offers athletics, electives, adventure programs, rock climbing, mountain biking, fine arts, performing arts and much, much more. Open Houses are 3/21 and 4/25, 11am-3pm.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Party Showcase, Celebrate! Citi Field, Flushing, Queens, www.celebratepartyshowcase.com. Find bands, DJs, caterer, photographers, videographers, florists, decorators, favor suppliers and more. The Showcase is also a great resource for those looking to have a Sweet 16. Enjoy live performances, giveaways and prizes during this day-long event on 3/21.

2010 Strictly Students Film Festival, www.strictlystudentsfest.com. The festival seeks original short film from Long Island high school students. Individual prizes will be awarded as well as equipment for schools. Additionally, college students may compete in their own category. Start your filming now, as entries must be postmarked by 3/22. Treats for Troops, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, (516)741-2550, www.gsnc.org. Help to satisfy the tummies of overseas troops by purchasing a box or case of cookies to be shipped to U.S. Army members from a local Girl Scout. Last year, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County sent 35,000 boxes to military personnel. Help them surpass this mark by making your purchase before the end of cookie season on 3/28.

Make a Child Smile, (516)677-0215. The Fresh Air Fund’s Nassau County branch is seeking volunteers and host families to enable its efforts this summer. Approximately 5,000 New York City Fresh Air children between the ages of 6 and 18 spend two-weeks of their summer in the Northeast and Canadian suburbs every year. The children come from low-income communities and are given a chance to form new friendships and take in some “fresh air” in an environment different from their own. Interested in helping out? Keep your eyes peeled for Once Upon A Sundae on this small screen this spring as the party venue is featured on Planet Green’s Wa$ted. Planet Green, a division of Discovery Company, had producers visit Once Upon A Sundae at 2943 Long Beach Road in Oceanside and discuss with staff how to run a more ecologically friendly business.
