Holiday Blood Drive, Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains. This blood drive open to the public and county employees. Donations are encouraged at this time of year with Donors should be between the ages 16 and 76, and weigh 110 pounds. 12/3, 9am-4pm.

Nutcracker 2009 featuring Pennsylvania Ballet Principal dancers, Purchase College, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, (914)251-6200, www.artscenter.org. The Purchase Dance Corps and 200 area children, along with Ballet power couple Julie Diana and Zachary Hench of the Pennsylvania Ballet, put on an incredibly elaborate production fo the Tchaikovsky classic. 12/4, 7:15pm; 12/5, 2pm and 7pm; 12/6, 1pm and 7pm.

The first annual author book fair is here featuring the work of local talent, for sale. A percentage of the proceeds benefit the library. 12/5, 11am.

High school winter training is being offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 4-5:30pm. Additionally, a session for 7th and 8th graders is offered Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30-7pm. MOTHER/DAUGHTER BOOK GROUP: A great opportunity for girls in 5th-8th grades and their mothers to read and discuss books in a casual, non-academic setting. Refreshments served. Eating Disorder Support Groups, CEDAR Associates, Apple Bank Plaza, 1075 Central Park Ave., Suite 412 in Scarsdale, (914)472-7137. FINDING YOUR VOICE THROUGH ART: This Eating Disorder Recovery Workshop uses art therapy as a way to explore underlying issues relating to eating disorders. The workshop runs for six weeks, meeting once a week. Call for more information. MEAL SUPPORT GROUP: To nurture those suffering from eating disorders, registered dietician Laura Cipullo, CDE, is facilitating a dinner meal and meal support group each week in Scarsdale. ASSE International, a non-profit organization, is looking for local volunteer families to host high school exchange students from around the world.
